Dido concert!
Jun. 28th, 2001 03:26 amLast night I was at the Dido concert at Jones Beach Theatre, Long Island! :)
Coworker: Who?
Me : Dido!
Coworker: *Pause* Sorry.. Don't know her.
Me: She sang with Eminem...
Coworker: *Blank look*
Me: Thank You? Hunter? Nevermind.
Me: I'm going to see Dido tonight!
Johnny: Who?
Me: Dido! At Jones Beach!
Johnny: You're going to see Tom Jones?
Me: No! Dido!
Johnny: Guy Jones? Huh? Sorry, don't know--
Me: No No NO! D-I-D-O!
Johnny: Dido?
Me: Yes! *relieved*
Johnny: What does she sing?
Me: *Pause* Thank You? British Girl? No angel? Ring a bell?
Johnny: Oh. Dido.
(I don't think he got it)
ShanRee: So you're off to a concert, have fun!
Me: Yeah, Dido!
ShanRee: Great!
Me: Do you know who she is?
ShanRee: *Pause* No
Me: Roswell theme song. Eminem collaboration. Dido. No angel album.
*Starts humming Thank You*
ShanRee: Well. I'm happy for you. Have fun.
Me: I'll explain all when I get back.
*Sighs* So unappreciated. Tell me you guys know Dido.... My favourite songs from her album have to be Don't Think Of Me and Hunter though, but everybody at the concert were strangely silent, seated in their seats, like they were attending an opera or classical performance. it was strange. When the music filled the air, her soft voice with emotion, her eyes closed, I couldn't help but rock to the music, feel the words on the tip of my tongue, feel moved.... It was beautiful, gentle....
Also the opening band, Travis (Scottish Band who sings "Why Does it always rain on me")-- amazing-- except they were on the stage from 8pm through 9.30pm-- a 1 and a 1/2 hr performance? Okay. Then set up for Dido was till 10pm.. and then she comes on from 10 through 11pm-- and that includes the 2 song encore. Sighs. At least I got to hear two new songs-- um. dont' remember the titles, something like Sun Will Shine and Take A Little Moment (or something like that).... Ahhh. It was good though. We had mezannine seats but the first row so I was hanging over the rail staring at her-- clear view-- and the beach in te backgroudn ahh.. :) :) DIDO!!!
