I don't admit it often, but I get homesick a lot.

By homesick, I don't mean my home, the one I've built with my husband and my daughter Erika.
I don't mean the home I grew up in, because let's face it; growing up, we never lived in a house for more than 3 years.
The truth is, even though I am 31 years old, I miss my parents very much.

The internet has made it much easier, and so have cheap phone rates. But there is something about the way my father's pillow smells or my mother's perfume on a hot summer day. It's seeing the way my father's eyes crinkle when he gives me a toothy smile, or the way my mother's lips purse when she's thinking (just like me!). It's hearing my mother's loud repetitious sneeze when she's cooking curry in the kitchen or my father's yawn on a lazy Sunday afternoon. It's burying my head in my mother's lap to take a nap while watching TV or hugging my father's broad chest.

Writing this is making me teary eyed, so I'm going to stop.

Anyway, the plane tickets are bought. Erika and I are flying to Malaysia in early July, and stay there for seven weeks this summer. Five weeks in, Brian will be join us, and the three of us will then be flying back together the last week of August.

Part of me is anxious about flying with Erika (being a 15-month old toddler on a 26-hour flight!?!) but part of me is joyous that my father, grandmother, uncles, aunts, cousins, high school friends, oh the list goes on--- will finally be able to meet Erika!!

An hour has been too much for me, so I can only imagine.

I'm so glad you'll be able to go! I don't know how you do it, sometimes living an hour from my parents seems like too much.

Yay, so excited for you.

I know how you feel, I've been thinking about moving home after graduation. I'm still unsure, but I do miss home and my family :/
