Yup, I'm jealous too. Our research vessel has pretty much been mothballed because of the abyssmal state budget, and Sacramento has doing its best to turn us all into paper pushers instead of researchers.
I did get to go out in April and help look for squid egg beds at Catalina Island, and considered myself lucky just to get to hold the ROV tether. (muses - darn, I started a post about that - I should finish it sometime, shouldn't I?)
