kids, we love you very much...
Sep. 30th, 2004 10:34 pmWatching the presidential debate felt like an ugly divorce settlement as two parents vied for their children's love and future. Each starting with "we love you very much" and "we only want to do what is best for you", followed by "your father is a dick" and "your mother is a whore", then "your mother never cleans" and "your father doesn't work hard enough".
"Your mother is a terrible cook" and "your father is never there for you" is rounded off with "stay with me and you'll get candy everyday", quickly challenged by "come with me and i'll let you stay up watching TV". Both offering me empty promises that I know will not be met, both slandering the other in hopes of winning my approval.
And in the end, as I look from one parent to the other, I just end up hating them both.
