May Photo A Day 2014 - Day 27 and 28

Day 27 - Meal

Tonight's homemade Chinese dinner, photographed on Erika's plate.
We had baked sesame chicken and a stir-fry baby bok choy, mushrooms, and firm tofu. With white rice, of course.
"Chinese dinner" night is (proudly) always a hit with Erika, and she will enthusiastically finish her entire dinner in record time. Other nights, dinner can take as long as 2 hours!

Day 28 - Unique

While there are probably many replicas of this wooden statue, this is a one-of-a-kind hand-carved statue, purchased from Tennessee.  Brian and I like to purchase a souvenir that either represents that region, or something that reminds us of our vacation, and we saw six, if not more, wild black bears on that trip. As we were leaving Gatlinburg's Historic Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community, there was a house with a makeshift "lemonade" stand on their front yard, and a teenager sitting there, underneath a tent, selling these statues. I couldn't resist.

baby bok choy are both adorable and delicious! And that carving is amazing, wow.

And baby bok choy is so cheap-- $1.49/lb and it's light, so a serving for a family of three was only about $2. Add that to four mushrooms (~$0.50) and half a container of tofu (~$1.00), and it feeds three!
