52:2013 (Week of December 24 - 31, 2013)

2013-52-dec31

  • Christmas!!! Erika received what she wanted from Santa, and so many more wonderful presents. She was thrilled beyond belief.

  • We went to the mall and she rode the train with her new build-a-bear "Princess", a Christmas present. "Princess" is pink and purple with a tiara and has Pinkie Pie's voice.

  • Ah Yi and Ross came to visit, bringing gifts. Ross gave her lots of rides around the house on his back.

  • On New Year's Eve, Erika wanted to ride roller coasters, so we did the next best thing, which was to take her to an indoor amusement park with some rides. She had to stand as tall as possible with her neck stretched high to reach the requisite 42". Can you believe my 3-1/2 year old baby is 42" tall!? Some of the rides suggested "5 years and 42" and I thought "hmm, that makes sense, Erika wears size 5T". You can see how tiny she looks on a ride called the Skyscraper. She had a BLAST, that thrill-seeker!

  • Happy New Year and have a great 2014!

Looking at the other kids on the rides, Erika definitely looked significantly younger, so I figured most of them were 5+ years old to meet the 42" requirement.

Yeah, 42" at 3-1/2 years old O_o

have you ever done that "adult height predictor" thing where you take her height at age 2 and double it, and it's supposed to be how tall she'll be fully grown? it's one of those kind of old wives tale type of things, but i did it with my height from my baby book, and it actually calculated out to exactly how tall i am today, so maybe there's something to it. kind of fun. (by that method of calculation, my oldest will be lucky to reach 5 feet tall, and my youngest will be about 5'3")

According to my records, at age 2, Erika was 36" tall, so by that method, she will be 6'0". I'm 5'9" and Brian is 5'10", so it's possible!

I was coming here to say that Alexandria, at 4, is shorter than Erika, but I'm actually not sure by how much. I know she was 37" this summer when we went to Worlds of Fun (an amusement park out here), but I think she's definitely gained a few inches. The hardest part is getting her to stand still ... :)

And edited to add that Erika is absolutely beautiful. I love hearing the stuff she comes up with. :)

Erika has a couple of male friends that are already 4 and yes, she's taller than them and they aren't runts either ;) If she stays on this track, she'll be 6+ feet!

Aww! Erika tried this past summer at 3, but no luck. So she was psyched when she finally (barely) managed to reach the magical 42"

She's always so grateful for her gifts. I need my monkey to behave like Erika!
