The shoe thing is interesting to me...not removing the shoes at the door, but where at the door. I grew up in a "do whatever you like" with your shoes home, but I'm a shoe-hater, so I'd walk in and kick my shoes off as soon as I got to a place where I could safely leave them without someone tripping over them. In Canada though, it's customary to remove shoes, and that's what Andy does...so we've kind of adopted the shoe removal policy, but for us, people do it inside the door, not outside. And I kind of wonder if that's a weather related thing, the location of shoe removal.
