Toddlers Freak Out. Totally Normal.

So apparently the whole "OMG freak out!" (see my post here) is fairly common among toddlers. Parents of toddlers, read this list, it's hilarious.

In the back of my car, Miriam keeps her sunglasses (stashed under her car seat so they don't get too hot) and one toy on the back console. She was so engrossed in Teach Your Monster To Read that we were running late to get ready to leave, and I told her we had to go "super-fast" to get ready. She was wonderfully cooperative with that part, and then we got into the car...at which point we had a near meltdown because I took the toy down from the console after I buckled her in instead of letting her grab it first.

Toddlers are hard! And the difference between Miriam (who is incredibly verbal on the expressive end as well as receptive) and Naomi (who just didn't want to talk much until a few months after she turned 3) is amazing, too-having a kid who is willing to talk when something isn't right makes a huge difference in how you deal.

Gareth used to always tell me that his sister (crawling at the time) wanted to eat him. I have a picture of him standing on top of a 5-gallon bucket and screaming, while Avalon on the floor is just looking at him like "What is wrong with you?"

"The cat won’t let him touch its eyeball"

This is 98% of my day. Love this.

I love "Everything is wrong with his coat" and "He's not allowed in the oven" and "The cat won't let him touch its eyeball" best!

It reminds me of doing gymnastics day camp with toddlers. Some days I just wanted to say, "REALLY? You're REALLY crying because you didn't know the glue would be sticky?"

They know my son. Seriously. I especially like "his brother is talking" because if Elliot doesn't have everyone's undivided attention when he's talking, shouting and screaming will ensue...
